In Ulaanbaatar, FISU celebrates the past and shapes the future

FISU's Steering Committee held a meeting with Mongolia's Minister of Sports, Culture, Tourism and Youth, Jukov Aldarjavkhlan and his delegation.

The FISU Executive Committee meeting is scheduled on 26 and 27 June, but its members have already started their work in the Mongolian capital.

On the day preceding the beginning of the Executive Committee meeting, FISU Steering Committee members met with Mongolia’s Minister of Sports, Culture, Tourism and Youth, Jukov Aldarjavkhlan and his delegation, before attending the official welcome dinner.

FISU Secretary General and CEO Matthias Remund discussed the university sports movement together with members of FISU’s Steering Committee in Ulaanbaatar. He invited the Minister to attend the upcoming Changchun 2027 Winter Universiade next January.

During the meeting, Minister Aldarjavkhlan assured his hosts that Mongolia will work towards hosting a FISU Sport event in the near future, increasing participation of Mongolian student-athletes in FISU events and, enhancing the involvement of universities in his country in the Healthy Campus Programme.

Official welcome reception

In the evening, FISU representatives were invited to an official reception by Ganbold Galsan, President of Golomt Bank, during which they had the opportunity to further exchange on the future of university sports

Four Mongolian volleyball players who participated to the Rhine-Ruhr FISU World University Games in Germany last August also attended the reception.

FISU President Leonz Eder then concluded the official speeches: “For many years now, Mongolia has played an important role in the development of FISU. Not only have they hosted four FISU World University Championships so far, but this afternoon we were also assured by Minister Aldarjavkhlan of a fruitful common future!”

The FISU Executive Committee will hold its second in person meeting of the year on 26-27 June.
