The world’s universities are not only places of learning but also provide sport opportunities for their students. This may be in offering competitive sport among universities, recreational opportunities, or even sport related education. Healthy living, wellbeing, and experiences from sport are all valuable elements that students receive demonstrating that universities play an important role in the promotion and delivery of sport.
In addition to what is already done on their campuses, universities have various ways in which to engage in university sport:
- Work with their national university sports federation (NUSF) on programmes and FISU events
- Engage with FISU programmes such as Healthy Campus, the International Day of University Sport (IDUS), or by having their students apply to participate in the Young Reporters Programme
- Scholarship programmes – opportunities may exist for their students to further their studies through scholarships to programmes in sport
- Encourage their students to consider participation and apply to take part in the FISU Volunteer Leaders Academy and to become a FISU Student Ambassador
- In partnership with their region or municipality, consider hosting a FISU event
- Have their researchers and sport leaders participate or present at FISU World Conference or FISU World Forum
- Support your student-athletes competing at FISU World University Games, World Championships, or University World Cups
