The Universiade journey continues

Building on the success of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, which received a strong and positive final report, attention is now turning confidently to the future. Organisers of the Changchun 2027 Winter Universiade showcased solid progress across all areas, earning high praise for what promises to be a truly memorable global event.
At the same time, Chungcheong 2027 FISU World University Games organisers marked the exciting 400‑day milestone with strengthened plans under new leadership, reflecting strong momentum and commitment—developments warmly welcomed by the FISU Executive Committee.
Looking further ahead, the North Carolina 2029 team also provided an update, with Chair and CEO Hill Carrow confirming that all necessary efforts are being made to ensure preparations progress smoothly, reinforcing a shared sense of confidence and ambition across upcoming editions of the Games.
Renewed vision for the FISU World Forum
With the 2026 edition approaching in Östersund, Sweden, plans for a renewed FISU World Forum were presented to participants.
The Forum is set to evolve with a stronger strategic focus, enhancing its relevance and impact. In this spirit, the Executive Committee approved the Brazilian University Sports Confederation (CBDU) to host the 2028 edition, aiming to deliver a more dynamic and impactful event for the benefit of the world university sport movement.

The next in-person FISU Executive Committee Meeting will take place on 12 January 2027 in Changchun, China.
The FISU Extraordinary General Assembly will be held on 13-14 January 2027 in the same place, just before the beginning of the Changchun 2027 Winter Universiade.
