BRASILIA – On 26 February, CBDU president and FISU vice-president Luciano Cabral met with Júlio Figueira, Brasília 2019 CEO, in charge of the OC formation; Paulo Ribas, Games Infrastructure Director and Mario Ferro, CBDU Technical Department Coordinator. At the meeting, the composition of the public authority of the Olympic Games in Rio 2016 was analysed.
“We are going to establish our OC and the pattern of responsibilities using the experiences and information that Brazil has today through the organization of the 2007 Pan-American Games, the 2011 World Military Games as well as all organization knowledge that will be transferred from hosting the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. It’s a privilege to be able to count on this important information from major sporting events held in our country”, Luciano Cabral highlighted.
The goal is to present the OC at the end of June 2014 and deliver to FISU, the Responsibilities Pattern, signed by the Brazilian Federal Government and the Federal District authority.
“Our competitions calendar of 2014 starts the last week of March and from that moment onwards all of our events and actions will be focused on the Universiade of Brasília 2019”, Cabral added.
