18th WUC Orienteering Officially Closes

Hand-over of the FISU flag

ALICANTE – The day of July 6^th ended in a perfect atmosphere, gathering all participants for the closing ceremony at the Paraninfo University of Alicante.

After playing the national anthem, a short speech from Carles Cortés Orts, President of the OC and Vice-Rector of Culture and Sports of the University of Alicante, followed by the speech of FISU Executive Committee representative Adrian Gagea, thanking the City of Alicante and all the volunteers and of course the Organising Committee.

A cultural program was realized by the Academic Symphonic Orchestra of San Vicente and the FISU flag was given to the representative of the next Organising Committee for the 19th WUC Orienteering in the Czech Republic, Jindrich Smicka, who invited all to attend the next edition of the World University Orienteering Championship in 2014 in Olomouc, in Central Moravia.

All athletes could then attend a banquet at a restaurant near their hotel, followed by a party.
