2010 WUC Triathlon Update: General Meeting for HoD

Valencia – A successful General Meeting was held on May 28th with the Heads of Delegation of Great Britain, Netherlands, Slovakia, Chile, Poland, Japan, Czech Republic, Uruguay, Singapore, Italy, France, Brazil, Venezuela, Hungary, Ecuador, South Africa, Australia, Guatemala, Spain, Sweden, Macau, Chinese Taipei, Switzerland, Panama, USA, Portugal, Czech Republic, Colombia, Peru, Costa Rica, Virgin Islands, Singapore, Japan, Poland, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria and Germany attending in a very good atmosphere.

At this General Meeting, after a welcome by the Organizing Committee and the CISCA chaired by FISU Vice-President Stefan Bergh there was the introduction of the officials, the information about the nomination of three experts for the TC as well as the nomination of the Jury of Appeal.

The check-in procedures were explained to the Heads of Delegation, as well as the official program consisting of two competitions for men & women, starting with an individual race, Olympic distances of 1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running and Team classification.

As explained by the CT Chair, Dieter Bremer, the swimming will be in the Open Sea as Saltwater-Swimming on a course with two laps. The biking will be held on a road course, fully closed for public traffic, with four laps and the running will be a four lap course too.

There is one transition area, located on a public place near the beach. The finish line will be near the transition area, altogether in a very compact course which will be very attractive for competitors and spectators.

The evening of May 18th ended with an official dinner in the Exhibition Palace, with the following authorities:

Diputación de Valencia, represented by Maria Angeles Medrano; the Council of Sport of Valencia, represented by Hermenegildo Puchades and the University of Valencia, represented by Vice-Chancellor Josep Lluis Cirera.
