Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU Games launches logo, presents host cities

Summer Games 20 April 2023

Rhine-Ruhr 2025 today launched its logo which symbolises the unity of the five cities and all communities that will host the FISU Games Summer from 16 to 27 July 2025.

While the the Games will be held in Germany for the second time after Duisburg in 1989, it will be the first time ever that the world’s largest multi-sport event for student elite athletes will take place in an entire region. During twelve days, the cities of Bochum, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Essen and Mülheim an der Ruhr will join together to welcome the best university athletes in the world.

The event’s programme is set to combine exceptional sporting competitions, cultural experiences, scientific exchange and international networking.

The international student athletes participating in Rhine-Ruhr 2025 can expect to find ideal conditions in a region that is both hugely passionate about sport and capable of continuous transformation, having most of the sports clubs in Germany and the highest density of universities in Europe.

It also has a remarkable density of existing sporting venues, with some of them to be upgraded so that the Rhein-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games contribute to a long-term improvement of the region‘s sports infrastructures.

The five cities will host competitions in 18 Sports (15 mandatory and 3 optional) under the motto Summer com laude – a summer with distinction.
