2nd Asian University Road Cycling Championship

CHANG NYEONG - The 2nd Asian University Road Cycling Championship was held in Chang-Nyeong, Korea from 14 to 16October, 2016 and it was the 2nd time for this championship to be held here. 22 officials and 41 riders from China, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia and Korea participated in the Championship.

The first competition day started with the Criterium on the morning of 15 October in which Japan Kanoya University Team and Japan National Team dominated the top 3 places. After 15-lap fierce rivalry, Kuroeda Saya from Japan Kanoya University Team first passed the finish line, slightly faster than his teammate Tokuda Takumi by only 0.146 second ahead. After the Criterium, a National Amateur Cycling Championship of Korea was organized, which attracted more than 1,200 amateur Korean riders from the whole Korea. 16 October marked the last day of the 2nd Asian University Road Cycling Championship, when the Individual Road Race started at 13:00 with 40 riders registered. Finally, the Championship title went to Tokuda Suguru, from Japan Kanoya University, 30 seconds ahead of the Runner-up, Sainbayar Jambaljamts from Mongolia. The bronze medal went to Ishihara Yuki from Japan Juntnedo team. In spite of the rainy day and slippery road, the riders spared no efforts with perseverance.

The Awarding and Closing Ceremony was held immediately after the competition. In his closing speech, AUSF Vice President Mr. CHEN Kunning expressed the heartfelt appreciation to the Organizing Committee again, on behalf of AUSF. He also congratulated the riders on their wonderful performance. Mr. LEE Yong Woo, President of Korean University Cycling Federation, also congratulated the riders on their achievements.
