Time Trial

The event started with the men’s individual time trial and with a strong performance from Germany who won the first gold and silver with Ole Theiler being crowned world champion and his teammate Cedric Abt just behind. Slovakia’s Adam Gross won the bronze.

The home crowd was able to celebrate after the women’s time trial, as China’s Danna Yiman was the fastest on her country’s roads. She was followed by a Polish duo, with Natalia Krześlak in silver and Antonina Jackoviak claiming the bronze.

Criterium

On the second day, the student-athletes competed in the criterium. Two days and two silver medals for Germany’s Cedric Abt that finished behind teammate Linus Rosner. Neighbour Paul Buschek from Austria came third.

Germany certainly had a fantastic day with Lea Waldhoff taking the gold and Olivia Schoppe arriving third. Only Karlijn Koos from the Netherlands managed to squeeze onto the podium taking the silver.

Road Race

The road race is probably the most sought-after podium. And all three student-cyclists who reached this podium added a second medal to their collection!

Austria’s Paul Buschek from Austria climbed on the highest step, adding a gold medal to the bronze he won the previous day. Adam Gross from Slovakia claimed a silver medal after the bronze in the time trial. Ole Theiler from Germany, who is the time trial world champion won the bronze.

In the women’s race, Natalia Krześlak from Poland took the crown and added a gold to her silver time trial medal. Germany’s Judith Krahl made sure her country was on the podium finishing second and Lena Gömmel did exactly the same claiming the bronze.

Mountain Bike Eliminator

This was very possibly the most spectacular evet of them all. The mountain bike eliminator is always filled with jumps and thrills on a tough terrain. And in China, the master was Maciej Jarosławski from Poland, second, yet another German, Louis Krauss and the bronze medal went to the host country thanks to Linghao Wen.

The Chinese collected two more medals in the women’s race, with Guihua Fu taking gold and Siying Gong winning silver. And thanks to Csenge Bokros‘ bronze medal, the Hungarian flag was also raised behind the podium.

Cross-Country

China made the most of the last men’s event to add two medals to their collection. Sheng Wang was crowned world champion and Guangchao Xie took the bronze. In between the two Chinese, Maciej Jarosławski from Poland took his second mountain bike medal of the event.

The last medals of this Zhangjiakou 2026 FISU World University Championship Cycling went to Europe and Asia, with Joanna Głowacka from Poland being crowned queen of cross-country mountain biking followed by Hungary’s Regina Bruchner, while Guihua Fu won the last bronze medal of the event.
