The International University Sports Federation (FISU) and a high-level official delegation from China held a key bilateral working meeting at FISU Headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The delegation was jointly led by Sun Mingchun (right), Director-General of the Department of Physical, Health and Arts Education of the Ministry of Education of China and Chen Dongsheng, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Federation of Chinese University and School Sports (FOCUSS).

The visiting group included senior representatives from the Changchun 2027 Winter Universiade Organising Committee, the Education Department of Jilin Province, the Sports Administration of Jilin Province, as well as officials from the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of China’s Ministry of Education.
Advancing the development of university sport

Led by FISU Secretary General and CEO Matthias Remund, the FISU senior leadership team held in-depth and substantive discussions with the Chinese delegation. Both sides exchanged views on further advancing the development of university sport in China, Asia and across the globe, and conducted detailed communication on concrete cooperation initiatives.
During the talks, the two sides fully recognised the outstanding contributions of China to the global university sports movement and affirmed China’s pivotal role in international university sports development. The meeting placed particular emphasis on the final sprint preparations for the upcoming Changchun 2027 Winter Universiade.


At the end of the session, FISU and FOCUSS officially signed the Agreement for the 2028 FISU World University Championship Football. As the highest-level university football event worldwide, the Championship will welcome top university football teams from all countries and regions to compete in China in 2028.
Both parties expressed their willingness to deepen long-term cooperation and jointly drive the high-quality development of global university sports.
