Three more days of padel frenzy in Málaga, as the best student-athletes move closer to the very first university crowns of this super popular racket sport. The game is fast, the cheering loud and the excitement is constant.

Women’s doubles

Host country Spain – with Laura Lujan Rodriguez/Agueda Perez Ortiz and Ana Domínguez Gracia/Ana Cristina Sanchez Perez – placed two teams in the quarter-finals. Italy is the only other nation to have done as well with Giorgia Rosi/Francesca Ligotti and Flavia Coppola/Camilla Livioni.

Men’s doubles

Like in the women’s tournament, two Spanish – Alejandro Jerez Carnero/Ferrán Gónzalez Zamorano and Alejandro Prados Dávalos/Eneko Arija Ochoa de Alda – and two Italian pairs – Noa Bonnefoy/Michele Brambilla and Matteo Platania/Simone Iacovino – have qualified for the quarter-finals.

Ukraine, the Netherlands, France and Switzerland each have one mens team still playing for a place in the semis.

Mixed doubles

In the mixed doubles, Spain also has two teams still in the run, with Valeria Atencia Basilio/Alvaro Sola Alba and Marisol Fernandez Garcia/Arnau Candelo Casas but the Italians are out of the competition for medals. Instead it is France who also has two mixed teams moving forward: Louise Bahurel/Nathan Courrin and Clara Mansart/Eliot Deknuydt.

Poland, Austria, The Netherlands and Ukraine all have a team in the run for gold.
