15th WUC Futsal – Wrap-up Day 8

ANAPOLIS/GOIANIA – A balanced match, decided in the last seconds of the second half, marked the victory of Argentina this Saturday, the 9th of July, by 3-2, over the women’s team of New Zealand, in the International Gym Newton de Faria, in Anápolis.

Team Colombia finished the women’s tournament defeating Team Kazakhstan by 14-1. The Colombian team made six goals in the first half, and the other eight in the second. Ramirez, their number 7, scored four times and was the top scorer of the match. With this result, the women’s team of Colombia ends the competition in the 9th place and Kazakhstan in 10th.

The men’s game between China and New Zealand opened the penultimate day of the 15th World University Futsal, in Anápolis. The game was worth the 11th place, which went to the Chinese team, with the tight score of 3-2 in New Zealand.

BRA vs FRA

Brazilian’s men team beat France 7-0, in the semi-final in the afternoon of Saturday (9/7), at Goiânia Arena Gym.

With a 5-1 score in the match of the men’s semi-final of the WUC Futsal, the team of Russia defeated the Czech Republic. The result ensured the Russians a place in the final of the championship.

An exciting game between the men’s teams of Germany and Argentina was played in the International Gym Newton de Faria, in Anápolis. After a balanced first half, with each team scoring one goal, the German team started with three early in the second half. Argentina almost got a tie in the final minutes of the match.

The classic encounter between Brazil and Portugal in the women’s tournament was a tight fought match this Saturday and despite the victory by 5-1, the score was not consistent with the difficulties of the game. The match was intense and, every minute, one of the players was on the floor. In total, more than 10 faults were made by each team. In addition, there were four yellow cards.

CZE vs RUS

The first place in the women’s final was guaranteed also on Saturday afternoon (9/7), at Goiânia Arena Gym, when Russia beat Canada 6-0. The first goal, by Viktoria Afanosofa came in the first four minutes of the game and opened the score for Russia. The second goal came soon after, at 13’34, by Margarita Semenova. In the second half, Russia completed the scoring with 4 more goals via Elnara Gammidova, two goals from Aleksandra Samorodova and the last goal from Oksana Pegova.

After winning from New Zealand’s team on Friday, the 8th of July, the male Portuguese team played its last game this Saturday (9/7) against Israel. The match ended with a 5-0 score in favour of the Portuguese.
