Winter Games 22 November 2022

On behalf of the International Fair Play Committee, FISU Acting President Leonz Eder handed over the Special Fair Play Career Diploma to Mr. Guido Graf today in Lucerne.

District President of the Department of Health and Social Affairs of the Canton of Lucerne and President of the Organising Committee of Lucerne 2021 Winter Universiade, Mr. Graf received the award for his contribution to the development of the student sport during the 6-year preparation of the Universiade.

“This award belongs to the entire organizing team of the Lucerne 2021 Winter Universiade. Even if we did not reach the top of the mountain because of the pandemic, we fought until the end and are proud of the work done by all people and all cantons in Central Switzerland and Graubünden,” said Mr. Graf.

“Today was a small event, but it means a lot for those people who were hard working for 6 years with the entire community of Lucerne and central Switzerland,” said Leonz Eder.

“FISU appreciates their achievements, which were presented during the recent FISU Executive Committee in Brussels. We do hope that sooner or later we will come back to Lucerne for the FISU World University Games Winter”.

The ceremony was held at the Building of the Government of the Canton Luzern, and also attended by Mr. Urs Hunkeler, Managing Director of the Lucerne 2021 Winter Universiade, Milan Augustin, FISU Winter Games Director,  and Jiho Kim, FISU Winter Games Executive Manager.
