Jordan has high hopes for Taekwondo Medals

GWANGJU - The Jordanian delegation which consists of 31 athletes and officials has very high hopes on winning medals at this Universiade. “We are training as hard as we can so that we can ensure a place in the top three, and get not less than 4 medals this year”, says Dr Khalil Elhaj, the head of the Jordanian delegation.

The delegation is divided into two main groups, one for the Taekwondo and the other is for Gymnastics, their competitions start on 8 July. The criteria of selecting the players who are participating in the games depends mainly on winning the Jordanian University Championship and also upon their international ranking. The Jordanians often excel in Taekwondo, winning medals in the Arab and Asian Games.

The Jordanian won`t get much of a rest after the Universiade. They`ll stay in Korea for the Asian World Championship Qualifiers, and it`s a ranking games that leads to the World Championship.
