The summer edition of the biggest sports event for university students will be hosted in 2023 in Russia’s third largest city, Ekaterinburg, which is known for its architecture, museums, art and music.

The first stage of the campaign is an online survey, open to all citizens of the Russian Federation, is now underway on the website www.talisman.ekat2023.com.

The survey will also be conducted offline over the next few days at shopping centres and airports of Moscow, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-don, Saratov and Petropavlovsk.

At the end of the survey, a shortlist of the ten most popular characters will be formed. After that, students from the Russian Art Universities will join the process and work on creating refined images of these characters.

In April and May 2020, the final stages will be held, as a national vote, where one of the top three characters will become the mascot of the 32ndedition of the FISU Summer World University Games.

Announcing the start of the campaign, Governor Evgeny Kuyvashev said “May the discussion and selection of the mascot become a transparent and exciting process. I am convinced that this process and the subsequent ‘birth’ of the mascot will be a good way to unite the residents of our region and the whole country.”
