TULA – The International Supervision, Control and Arbitration Committee (CISCA) met on 10 February to prepare the 2016 FISU World University Ski Orienteering Championship that will be held in Tula, Russian Federation. The International Orienteering Federation President Brian Porteous and Russian Orienteering Federation Vice-President Alexei Kuzmin were also in attendance.

An overview of the preparations for this inaugural event was shared and all participants reviewed their fields envisioning the start of the event in Aleksin, the site hosting the ski orienteerers. A total of 30 men, 25 women and 15 officials representing 12 countries are present at this 1st event, i.e. from Japan, Belarus, Finland, Sweden, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Switzerland, Estonia, Bulgaria, Norway, Latvia and Russian Federation.

All delegations attended the customary General Technical meeting where a full run-down of the event was presented. IOF President Porteous thanked all attendants and welcomed them to a historic event that had started 3 years earlier when FISU accepted Ski Orienteering to its sports programme, curiously not too far from Tula, in Kazan.

Meanwhile, on site, preparations are complete and the model training course was available for all student-athletes present in Tula. An exciting competition is expected with the terrain in excellent condition for the Ski Orienteerers to perform.
