Golf heads to Torino for the FISU World University Championship

Championships 20 July 2022

Eighteen delegations from four continents are participating in the 2022 FISU World University Championship Golf, which starts today in Torino (Italy).

The Piedmont capital hosts this championship for the second time after the 2006 edition. This year, it also marks the starting point of a series of events organized by CUSI (the Italian University Sport Federation) and leading to the Torino 2025 FISU World University Games.

“During my last speech here in Torino, at the occasion of the Flame lighting ceremony for the Lake Placid and Chengdu Games, I said that we can’t imagine FISU without Torino, CUSI and Italy. Today I gratefully repeat it: FISU without Torino, CUSI and Italy is just impossible,” said Leonz Eder, FISU Acting President.

The World University Championship Golf is an opportunity for young people to approach the sport, making it accessible to all.

The competition, hosted until 23 July by the Royal Park I Roveri in La Mandria, is divided into individual and team categories for men and women.

The 18 participating nations are Belgium, Canada, Spain, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Netherlands, South Africa, San Marino, Switzerland, Slovakia and Taipei.
