The 23rd FISU Championships Cross Country was the first ever FISU event to be hosted by the Sultanate of Oman abd was held in the country’s capital of Muscat. Hot temperatures of near 30C greeted athletes from 22 nations who came to compete. South Africa claimed gold in three of the four individual disciplines (men’s and women’s 3km and women’s 10km) while Uganda’s Seth Akampa continued African domination winning the men’s 10km. Great Britain and Northern Ireland took gold in the short course mixed relay while Spain claimed the long course mixed relay.
