About the host
Changchun is the capital of the Jilin Province in northeast China and a major centre for winter sports, automobile industry, education and culture.
Renowned for its Ice and Snow FestivaI, Changchun has a strong winter-sports tradition, cold and snowy winters, and experience in hosting major sporting events, making it a fantastic environment for the 2027 Winter Universiade.
If you are planning on joining the event, as a participant or as a spectator, make sure to dress warmly, as the average temperature in January is -15 degrees Celsius!
The Universiade will be organised in two major clusters: Changchun – essentially for ice sports as well as cross-country running – and Jilin with its close access to Songhua Lake and Beidahu ski resorts (alpine skiing, para alpine skiing, freestyle and freeski, snowboard and ski mountaineering).
In between, there are two more ski resorts, Lianhuashan (arials) and Jingyuetan (cross-country skiing, para cross-country skiing and ski orienteering).
