Make sure to follow the last days of action from the European Universities Games in Salerno, which will end on Saturday 1 August.
Almost a week has gone by since the opening ceremony in Salerno and the best student-athletes from Europe are competing in 13 different sports in Southern Italy.

Most indoor sports champions crowned
The badminton and handball medals are still up for grabs, but basketball, futsal, padel, table tennis and volleyball’s podiums are already full! As for outdoors, beach handball has also already crowned its champions.

An appetizer for upcoming FISU Championships and Cup?
Four sports part of the programme in Salerno are still top come on the FISU World University Championships and Cup calendar. These are rugby 7s (4-6 September in Stellenbosch, South Africa), beach volleyball and beach handball (17-22 September in Figueira da Foz, Portugal) and 3×3 Basketball (23-25 October in Macau, China).
Different balls, same passion
An exciting opening and a fruitful forum
The opening days were dedicated to meetings, the forum and of course a great opening ceremony.
On 19 July, during the awards ceremony, FISU and EUSA signed a Memorandum of Understanding reaffirming their shared vision and collaboration.
On the same day, FISU President Leonz Eder took part in a panel discussion during the EUSA Forum 2026 under the theme long-term health, wellbeing and innovation in the university sport environment:
And 3000 student-athletes from 31 participating nations, representing 171 universities from across Europe took part the opening ceremony in Piazza della Libertà.
It is the first time that the Games are organised in Italy, thanks to the joint efforts of the University of Salerno, CUS Salerno, and ADISURC, with the support of FederCUSI and the Campania Regional Government.
The festive spirit remained throughout the competition and the closing ceremony will for sure be as much fun!
