Portugal and Brazil definitely gave a super strong impression in the women’s competition, remaining undefeated in the group stage and scoring respectively 26 and 16 goals. They moved directly to the semi-finals with their respective runners-up, Poland and Germany.

“We’re very happy with the group stage”, said Portugal’s Margarida Cavalho. “It’s important that we managed to win against Chinese Taipei without conceding a goal. Now we have to focus on the next match.”

In the men’s group stage, host country Poland remained undefeated in Group A. The Polish player’s goal is clear: “We know what kind of team we have and what we’re capable of ” said Oskar Szczepanski (middle) of the Polish University Team. “We came here to fight for a spot in the medal round!”

In Group B, both Brazil and Portugal drew once, but that didn’t stop them from reaching the semis. France and Lebanon also won all their games apart from one draw in group C, but neither countries managed to remain in the fight for a place on the podium.

The biggest disappointment is probably Slovakia’s, who remained undefeated in group D but lost 7-2 to Czechia in their quarter-final game.

Make sure to carry on following the competition until 7 July, as not only the semis and finals promise great action, but also all classification games.
