13 FISU International Medical Committee members discussed for the future of medical and anti-doping services within FISU events over two days in Istanbul.

The FISU International Medical Committee (CMI) held its annual meeting in Istanbul on 19-20 June, bringing together 13 committee members to review recent activities and discuss strategic priorities for the future of medical and anti-doping services within FISU events.

During the two-day meeting, the Committee examined reports from recent FISU competitions, assessing the delivery of medical services and doping control operations. The discussions provided an opportunity to identify best practices and lessons learned, with the aim of continuously enhancing athlete care and event support.

A key focus of the meeting was the role of CMI members throughout the lifecycle of FISU events. The Committee reviewed the responsibilities and missions of its members before, during and after competitions, emphasising the importance of consistent standards, effective coordination with Organising Committees, and the delivery of high-quality medical and anti-doping services.

Members also addressed several strategic topics central to the Committee’s work, including the ongoing development of FISU’s doping control strategy, the strengthening of educational activities, and initiatives designed to promote athlete health, wellbeing and clean sport.

The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to supporting FISU’s mission by ensuring that medical services and anti-doping programmes continue to evolve in line with international standards and the needs of the university sport community.

The meeting concluded with the identification of key priorities for the coming period and a shared commitment to further enhancing the quality and consistency of medical and anti-doping operations across all FISU events.

The next meeting of the FISU International Medical Committee will take place during the Changchun 2027 Winter Universiade.
