As 2025 is reaching its end, we are looking back at a whole year of activities of the FISU Student Ambassadors programme.

365 days of action in facts and figures from all over the world.

  • 121 students from 75 countries finished the programme earlier this year.
  • 126 new FISU Student Ambassadors from 74 countries were appointed in September for season 2025/26.
  • There are new countries participating in the programme for the first time representing national university sport federations like Guinea or others returning to the programme like Ivory Coast and Ukraine.
  • All of the new appointed students started creating their action plans focusing on the most important aspects for FISU: sport events, education, student wellbeing and sustainability.
  • 12 monthly educational sessions were held for the participants of the programme to train them on sport events and volunteer management, social media skills and to give updates on the questions of clean sport, gender equality, dual career, sustainability, etc. Together with professional managers of different departments of FISU, our guest speakers from International Padel Federation, World Anti-Doping Agency shared their experience and expertise.

Tiam Sous from Lebanon and Ayoub Salah Laasri from Algeria were volunteers last July during the FISU Games in Germany.
  • The biggest in person meeting of the year of alumni was at Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games when 46 alumni of the programme met at one FISU event. They were participating there in different roles: athletes in judo, athletics and fencing, head of delegations and delegation members, organising committee staff, FISU committee members and volunteers of protocol, sport, accreditation and attaches. https://www.fisu.net/2025/07/23/everywhere-you-look-youll-see-a-fisu-student-ambassador-at-work/
  • The programme’s Instagram page experienced the biggest boost in its history with the monthly viewers reaching numbers above 100,000 with 4000 active followers.
Johanna Wilhemsson (SWE) runs the LinkedIn page, Anne Mwebe Nassimbwa (UGA) is the recruiter interviewing more than 50 new student ambassadors, Jackeline Torres Vargas (CRC) is the admin of the @fisuambassadors Instagram page.
  • 2025 was a year when the LinkedIn page was launched for the alumni of the FISU Student Ambassadors programme, where they can share the latest news, exchange job opportunities and make direct connections.
  • FISU Student Committee established a working group consisted of alumni aiming to support initiatives to develop the FISU Student Ambassadors programme. Among their activities: social media work, organising webinars, alumni questionnaire, etc.
  • 21 FISU Student Ambassadors chosen to be mentees of the FISU Springboard programme, where their mentors were FISU Executive Committee Members, FISU staff and top experts from the university sports world.

What will 2026 bring to the FISU Student Ambassadors? With the upcoming season of more than 20 FISU World University Championships, be sure that you will see FISU Student Ambassadors onsite all over the planet.

And in between those events, all of them will be working on their action plans together with their national university sports federations to develop university sport in their countries and will be spreading the values of FISU worldwide.
