FISU is once again well represented at the Erasmus+ Sport Info Session 2025 – further enhancing its commitment to international cooperation and sustainable development through university sport. The event was hosted by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) at the European Commission Headquarters in Brussels on 16 December 2024.
Representatives from FISU included Fernando Parente, Deputy Secretary General and Chief Development Officer, and Sameer Janmohamed, FISU staff member managing FISU’s Erasmus+ Sport and sustainable development projects. FISU joined over 600 delegates to explore new opportunities for collaboration, discuss potential partnerships, and gain insights into the latest developments in education, youth, and sport under the call for Erasmus+ Sport actions for 2025 co-funded by the European Union.
Erasmus+ Sport actions promote participation in sport, physical activity, and voluntary activities, including tackling societal and sport-related challenges under the European Union’s flagship programme for education, training, youth, and sport. It offers a platform for organisations to foster cooperation, exchange best practices, and contribute to the overall development of individuals and communities.
FISU’s attendance at the Erasmus+ Sport Info Session reflects a commitment to staying at the forefront of international initiatives that promote education, youth engagement, and sustainable practices in sport. As FISU continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of university sports, involvement in events like this underscores its dedication to creating a positive impact on a global scale.
FISU is currently involved in six Erasmus+ Sport projects with 28 partners that include grassroots organisations, universities, and international governing bodies. Projects that FISU is currently involved in are YouRef, UMedia, Green Campus, 3Cs (Cycling, City & Campus) and Interact+.
