Morocco 22 April 2024

The FISU President attended the second Congrès International de Management du Sport, from 17 to 19 April in Agadir.

The Ecole Nationale de Commerce et de Gestion, a department of the Université IBN ZOHR in Agadir, hosted the second Congrès International de Management du Spoin Agadir, Morocco, during which FISU was invited to lead a seminar entitled “FISU/ University Sport and sustainable development” on the topic of ” Sport and Development, international approaches and local particularities”.

Many very interested students took part in the different panels.

FISU President Leonz Eder presented FISU, its sporting programmes and educational events and then had the opportunity to answer a large number of questions from interested students. Eder also took part in the panel discussion “University Sport and development challenges”.

Other topics such as “University sport: the cradle of nutrition for elite athletes”, “Sports economics”, “State of research in sports economics”, “The place of sport in the human development project” etc. were very well received.

While Lausanne professor Jean-Loup Chappelet spoke on “So why organise mega-sports events?”, FISU Education Committee member Abdelhamid Ait Bihi gave a presentation on ” The impact of sporting events: a systematic literature review”.

Six parallel sessions gave other speakers the opportunity to present and discuss their studies and projects.

“For FISU, this conference was an excellent opportunity to make contact with the Moroccan academic world, to present the values and goals of FISU and to promote Healthy Campus,” summarised Leonz Eder (left). “I also had the opportunity to deepen FISU’s relationship with the Moroccan University Sports Federation.”

The Moroccans were recently selected for the FISU 2024 World University Championship Futsal in Shanghai, and FISU will hold its Executive Committee meeting in Rabat in September, both important moments in the promotion of university sport in the Kingdom of Morocco.
