Masters of Mind Sports meet in Antwerp

The 2022 FISU World University Championship Mind Sports (12-17 September) has started in the 16th-century Hof van Liere building, located in the heart of the University of Antwerp City Campus (Belgium).


While 16 teams have registered for the bridge competition, several grandmasters (GM) and international masters (IM) are participating in the chess tournament. 


In the men section, the favorites are GM Jingyao Tin (Singapore), the highest ranked player in Antwerp with 2561 Elo points, and the strong Polish GM Igor Janik (2533).


In the Women tournament, as the only grandmaster, Julia Antolak (Poland) is the top candidate for the gold medal, but she might well be challenged by IM Mobina Alinasab (Iran) and IM Anastasia Avramidou (Greece).
