Student Committee starts with new goals and objectives

FISU 30 April 2020

The first meeting of the newly formed FISU Student Committee (CdE) meeting was held to set aims and objectives for the four-year term ahead.

“This first meeting was very fruitful,” said Emiliano Ojea (right), Chair of the Committee. “Members received a lot of general information about FISU and got the chance to understand better how this Student Committee will work for the 2019-2023 term. We really hope this team will bring forth new ideas and concrete projects to work on.”

All eight members of the Committee attended the meeting, which was steered by the FISU Education Department. The voice of the Student Committee is very important for FISU as it charts future paths, because it is the voice of university students themselves.

“I am very excited about the future work with the members of the committee and look forward to the various tasks we are facing,” said Joshua Mietke of Germany, who studies for a Master of Science in Economics, at the University of Potsdam. “In the first meeting, we focused on the aims and visions as well as our working methods. As a member of the Student Committee, I also represent the voice of the students within the Working Group Sport Events and I look forward to accompanying the Winter World University Games for the next three years.”

Chiara Coltri, Vice-Chair of the Committee said, “It was a very important first meeting to understand the role of the CdE and FISU in general. It was the first step for what I hope can become a nice working group, made up of young people who, thanks to their personal experiences and ideas, can enrich this university sport movement that we love so much!”

The introductory meeting presented all members with the FISU governance and structure, FISU Committees.Participants were requested to think about general objectives and deliverables for 2020-2023 and to work on proposals for future activities.

“I am looking forward to our next meeting in June, to really start discussing and working on everyone’s plans,” concluded Emiliano Ojea.
