Signing Ceremony of the Confirmation Agreement between FISU and the 2019 WU Krasnoyarsk Executive Directorate
CHEBOKSARY – On 9 October, 2014, the 5th International Sports Forum “Russia – Country of Sports” opened in Cheboksary, Volga Region, Russian Federation. The Forum was attended by FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien, FISU 1st Vice-President and President of the Russian Students Sport Union Oleg Matytsin and FISU Secretary General/CEO Eric Saintrond.
The first event scheduled in the agenda was the Signing Ceremony of the Confirmation Agreement between FISU and the 2019 WU Krasnoyarsk Executive Directorate at the International Exhibition “Modern Sport. Innovations. Perspectives”. The 2019 WU Krasnoyarsk OC was represented by Director General Maxim Urazov.
At the 2019 WU Krasnoyarsk stand the FISU leaders were welcomed by volunteers and the Universiade mascot U-Laika. After the Signing Ceremony, a photo session was held and the guests had a chance to taste a Siberian speciality – sbiten, a honey drink with various spices.
Next on the agenda for the FISU delegation was the participation in the Forum Plenary Meeting, which was opened by Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation Vitaly Mutko. The presentations on different topics were given by prominent figures of the sports world. FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien also made a presentation on the role of the students sport movement in modern society.
After the Plenary Meeting, FISU President Gallien was invited to the meeting with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the heads of international sports organizations. The meeting was attended by Russian high authorities like Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation Vitaly Mutko, as well as RSSU President Oleg Matytsin and the IOC members from the Russian Federation.
FISU President Gallien was awarded by President Putin with the Order of Friendship
Prior to the meeting, FISU President Gallien was awarded by Mr Putin with the Order of Friendship for the great contribution to the development of the university sports both worldwide and in Russia.
Meanwhile, the FISU Secretary General/CEO held a working meeting with the Kazan Executive Directorate for Sports Projects on the activities of the FISU International Educational Centre.
