2014 WUC Wrestling: OC Meeting and National University Championships as Test Event

PECS – The Organizing Committee of the 2014 WUC Wrestling held its meeting on 30 April in the Lauber Dezső sports hall, the venue which will host the event 7-12 July in the city of Pécs, Hungary.

Mr. Tamás TÉCZELY, OC Secretary presented a detailed report regarding the preparations. Within a few days several contracts will be signed with companies providing the accommodation, meals and transportation of the participants. For teams arriving by plane the OC will provide transportation free of charge from Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport.

Talks are underway with media representatives, ensuring a nationwide communication during the event.

OC jurist Dr. Béla BILONKA, also representing the University of Pécs confirmed that the senate of the university approved the financial support for organizing 2014 WUC Wrestling, a very important step in finalizing the budget.

Until now 26 nations have registered using the on-line accreditation system, most of them have already sent the quantitative entries, too. The next deadline (individual entries) will be June 7^th, the OC is looking forward to receive all information in due time.

On 1 May the National University Wrestling Championship took place, an important test event for the World Championship.

The preparations are going well; the OC is looking forward to see all participants in the city of Pécs in two months!
