TRENTO – FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien and FISU Secretary-General/CEO Eric Saintrond met with Mr. Akhmetzhan Yesimov Smagulovich, the Mayor of the city of Almaty, Kazakhstan. Almaty will host the 28th Winter Universiade in 2017. The Mayor of Almaty was in Trento to attend the Opening Ceremony of the 2013 Winter Universiade.
The preparation of the 28th Winter Universiade 2017 will take a new turn as the delegates of the Organizing Committee will participate in the FISU Observer Programme which will start 13 December and will last for two days. This is an important step in the transfer of knowledge FISU established to facilitate the work of the Organising Committees and allow them to experience the Universiade behind the scene. This programme also allows the OCs to anticipate any problems that may arise during the preparation of the games. Finally, it prepares the necessary collaboration with the FISU technical delegates. This collaboration must be put in place from the attribution of the Universiade onwards and intensified throughout the preparation process.
