LJUBLJANA – The EUSA Evaluation Committee composed by Mr Alberto Gualtieri, EUSA President, Mr Kemal Tamer, Executive Committee Member and Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, Secretary General paid an evaluation visit to both cities bidding for the organisation of the 2014 European Universities Games: Wroclaw (POL) and Rotterdam (NED).
The visit ofWroclawtook place between October 10th and 12th. The EUSA representatives met with the representatives of the Bidding Committee and the University Sports Federation of Poland Mr. Marian Dymalski, Mr Pjotr Marszal and Mr Martin Dymalski who presented them the project of organisation of the 2014 EUG in detail. They also met on a separate meeting with the representative of the Sports Department of the Lower Silesian Region, Mr Dominik Klosowski, the Chancellor of the Wroclaw University of Economics, prof. dr. Edward Bratek and the Mayor of the neighbouring City of Trzebnica Mr Marek Dlugozima, who all gave full support to the candidature ofWroclaw.
The delegation then visited some of the sports and accommodation facilities that are foreseen for the games. During the second day, the EUSA delegation first visited the City Hall, where they were welcomed by the Mayor of Wroclaw Mr Rafal Dutkiewicz. Later on, they also visited the Academy of Physical Education of Wroclaw, where they were welcomed by the Rector prof. dr. Juliusz Migasiewicz, both ensuring their support of the bid.
In the evening, the Evaluation Committee had an opportunity to see the basketball match of the national league, played in Orbita Hall, foreseen in the bid as the venue of the closing ceremony of the Games.
The EUSA Evaluation Committee continued with the inspection by visitingRotterdamfrom October 13th to 15th. The Committee was welcomed by the Bidding Committee for the Organisation of the Games, chaired by its President Mr Menso de Maar, Director of Erasmus Sports.
On the first day the EUSA representatives met in the City Hall with the representatives of the major partner organisations in the project, Mr Ahmed Aboutaleb, the Mayor of the City of Rotterdam, Mrs Antoinette Laan, the Alderman for Culture and Sports of the City of Rotterdam, prof. dr. Henk Schmidt, the Rector Magnificus of the Erasmus University, Mr Daniel Sikkens, the Erasmus Sport Chairman and Mr Hans den Oudendammer, the Rotterdam Topsport Director. The National University Sports Association, Studentensport Nederland, was represented by Ms Hester de Vries, President 2010/11.
The Mayor of Rotterdam and the Rector of theUniversityofRotterdamwelcomed the Evaluation Committee Members, promising their full support, saying that they would be honoured to welcome students for the Games, especially in the light of the 100th anniversary of the University in academic year 2013/2014.
On the second day, the EUSA representatives had the opportunity to seeRotterdamand its sports facilities from ground, water and also from the air, as a special sightseeing flight has been organised.

The report will be followed by the final presentations of both candidate cities,Wroclaw andRotterdam, after which the EUSA Executive Committee will choose the organiser of the 2nd European Universities Games, to be held in 2014. The 1st European Universities Games, multi-sport event where students representing their universities can compete and socialise, will be organised in Córdoba,Spain July 13th-23rd, 2012.
