ALMATY – On October 7th, 2011 a new project “Universiade Lessons” started in Almaty. The project is conducted within the bidding campaign for the right to host the 28th Winter Universiade in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The main aim of the project is to better inform Kazakhstan students and schoolchildren about the University Games, their history and who of the national athletes took part.
The first lesson was organized at the Almaty youth sports school by Alexander Yermakov, the bronze medal-winner of the Summer Universiade in Shenzhen in Individual 50m shooting. He said: “I am glad to participate in the Universiade project from the very beginning, from the bidding campaign, to address the teenagers who in five years will defend the honor and flag of Kazakhstan.”
In his speech the athlete underlined the importance of discipline, healthy lifestyle, and he also shared his own experience: “I can hardly describe the pride for myself and for the country, when one stands on the medal podium and the flag of Kazakhstan rises. At that moment you understand, that you have justified hopes for you. I wish all of you to test such feeling.”
The Bidding Committee of Almaty 2017 WU is going to organize such lessons in all sports schools and a number of secondary schools in Almaty during October.
