CTI Meeting in Shenzhen

SHENZHEN – A little bit more than 10 months away from the Opening Ceremony of the 2011 Summer Universiade that will take place in Shenzhen (China), this second visit of the Technical Chairs under the lead of the CTI Chair Stavros Douvis is more than important. Competition and training venues checking, Competition schedule, sports presentation, media and broadcast, IT, Timing and Scoring, On Venue Results System are all important issues that have to be finalized during this visit. Because of the late recruitment of the Competition Managers within the OC, the work of our CT’s has been more than multiplied.

This visit was preceded in September by the inspection of the Gymnastics – Istavan Karacsony- , the Chess –Eugene Fleischer- CT Chairs. At the occasion of the Archery WUC held late September in Shenzhen, Juan Carlos Holgado, the above mentioned sports CT Chair, took of course the opportunity at that time to hold all the necessary meetings for the preparation of the Universiade.

Because of the number of sports (24) on the SU program, visits have been divided in different groups (between October 7th to 22nd). The first group composed of Taekwondo – Kyung Ho Min- of Track and Field – Tapani Illka and Till Luft- of Diving – Donald Leas- and of Judo- Sergey Tabakov- has completed the visits on Saturday. Two Competitions Managers from Kazan, Denis Kapustin (Track and Field) and Timur KASIMOV (Diving) were also present in order to beneficiate of the transfer of knowledge. Other CM from Kazan will arrive in Shenzhen.

A large delegation of the FISU staff is on the spot to support CTI Chair Stavros Douvis and all his CT’s: Marc Vandenplas (SU Director), Dejan Susovic (TV and Media Director), Michal Buchel (Sports Manager), Jing Zhao (SU Assistant) and Melanie Stallecker (Sports Assistant).
