Wednesday April 29th, on the second day of their visit in Vigo, FISU delegates, Laurent Briel Director of the World University Championships and Kolë Gjeloshaj Director for Educational and Development Services, Chief of Staff to the President met with the Vice-Mayor of the city, Mr. Santiago Dominguez Olveira. Mr. Aitor Canibe Sánchez, Head of the University Sport Unit of the Spanish High Council of Sport also accompanied the FISU delegates.

This second day was dedicated to the visit of the venues that the Organising Committees are proposing for the World Taekwondo University Championship and for the 10th edition of the FISU Forum that will take place at the end of June 2010.

For the Taekwondo Championship, two sites were preselected: the exhibition hall of IFEVI (Instituto Feiral de Vigo) and the sport complex ‘Polideportivo De As Travesas Vigo’. This last site was finally selected because it is closer to the accommodation location and more convenient for the kind of events FISU is organizing.

The ‘Centro Social Caixanova’ is proposed to be the place for the Opening Ceremony and the working sessions of the 10th FISU Forum. The particularity of this venue is to have an interactive and educative circuit dedicated to the environment named ‘Naturanova’. This building is situated downtown within a walking distance of the hotels where the participants are going to be accommodated. The University of Vigo will also welcome a working session and a number of activities such as the poster session and the sport activities of the participants.

The delegation was composed of:

– Jose Ángel Otero Lamas, General Coordinator at the office of the Deputy Mayor
– Mrs. María del Carmen Cabeza, Vice-rector for Students and Culture Extension University of Vigo
– Mr. José Maria Pajudas Fernandez, the Secretary General of the Spanish Taekwondo Federation
– Michel Nombela Castano, Director of Students and Sports Affairs at the University of Vigo
– Mr. Javier Rial, Coordinator of Sport Service at the University of Vigo
