
On February 8th, 2009, in Suva, Fiji the Executive Committee meeting of the Oceania University Sports Association took place. This is the second meeting of the board after their meeting held last September in Sydney, Australia. This Association, which was created on February 2008 in Apia, Samoa is organizing its 2nd General Assembly. The president elected was Cliff Benson from Fiji. The Secretariat of the organization is based in Apia, Samoa under the leadership of Karen Nelson, Secretary General and Treasurer of the organization. The FISU representatives to this meeting were Mr. Stefan Bergh, FISU Vice-President and Kolë Gjeloshaj, Director Educational and Development Services – Chief of Staff to the President
After the meeting, a welcome ceremony was organized at the residence Mr. Rajeesh Chandra, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of South Pacific, who together with Mr. Alifereti Cawaribuka, the President of the Fiji University Sports Association that was formed in 2008 welcomed the delegates of the 15 countries in attendance. Mr.Vidhya Lakhan, President of the Fiji Amateur Sports Association and National Olympic Committee also attended the ceremony.
