The 1st World University Bridge Championship took place in 2002 in Bruges, Belgium, and welcomed 65 players from 13 countries. Thanks to an excellent cooperation with the World Bridge Federation, this discipline continues to grow within the university community. From 2020 onwards, Bridge will be organised in a cluster event as part of the WUC Mind Sports.

Since then, seven other editions took place on two continents, attracting around 100 participants per edition. The 8th World University Bridge Championship took place in Lodz (POL) in 2016.
