University World Cups

Putting on your university colors and competing amongst your classmates is an experience that cannot be found anywhere else in sports. The FISU University World Cups have student-athletes competing for their university teams rather than for national teams and in doing so, are game-changers.

Through these University World Cups, FISU brings ever more student-athletes into the international university sports scene. At FISU we’re helping change the role and impact of sports on student-athlete’s lives.

A Sports Innovation Partnership

The FISU University World Cup concept started as a gateway to explore new sports and formats and to create alternative competition set-ups within the University Sports movement. These events allow FISU to experiment in partnership with International Federations (IFs) to enhance delivery and innovation in their sport.

It is these strong partnerships that help FISU maximize the potential of the University Sports movement esepcially in a fast-changing world, where youth engagement with sports is constantly evolving.

The University World Cups establish new pathways to high-end international tournaments, with the goal of aligning events at national, regional, continental and global levels. Through these series of events, FISU’s aim is to increase sports participation through universities and help student athletes be both: today’s stars and tomorrow’s leaders.

This last line is more than just a tagline, it is FISU’s guiding principle: in everything the organisation does, keeping the athlete experience at the heart of university sports is the number one priority.
