Close on the heels of the first-ever FISU eSports Challenge Football, FISU announces the next digital challenge, the UWC 3×3 Trick Shot Challenge.
The idea came from outstanding FISU athlete Sara Meden, who had recently taken over the FISU Instagram account during the #FitAtHome campaign.
During her takeover, Meden pulled off a stunning trick shot that was reminiscent of her stellar performance at the 2018 FISU University World Cup 3×3 where she had led the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) team.
“During the quarantine, we tried different trick challenges at my basketball club. One of them was to make a trick shot,” says Meden, who has completed her studies and is a medical doctor now.
“It wasn’t so easy,” she says of the shot she pulled off in the Instagram takeover. “Because I needed a good assistant – my dad – who had to repeatedly get the ball after the missed shots and pass it back to me throughthe window on the first floor!”
Meden says she practiced for about 20 minutes before getting it right.
“The last trick shot I was trying to do was the Jordan one,” she laughs. “We could see Luka Dončič doing it in the game too.”
So now, Meden’s trick shot has inspired a whole challenge and we are inviting video entries from university ballers and basketball enthusiasts alike; the only prerequisite being that participants have to be university students (of course!) and/or should have participated in a previous FISU event.
All entries must be sent to media@fisu.net with the key words ‘Trick Shot Challenge’ before 19 July. The video clips must not be longer than 60 seconds and the entry must be accompanied by the full name, instagram handle, university and field of study of the participant. The UWC 3×3 Trick Shot Challenge will be launched on FISU’s social media channels in August 2020.
