The world's best triathletes will soon take the plunge in the Baltic Sea, then hammer across southeastern Sweden by bike and foot, all in the name of glory and sporting challenge at the 2018 World University Triathlon Championship.
The setting for the competition couldn't be better as Kalmar has been voted as the summer city of the year in Sweden and the race course flows through the city's historical district. It is the kind of combination of sports venue and locale that will test the athletes while also offering spectators an up close and personal look at the sport and sportspersons of triathlon.
It’s apt that when asked about the event coming to town Kalmar Municipality Council Chairman Johan Person said his city was ready to put on a top-level event — and a party for the city.
From bicycle repair service to start times to the closing party plan, the athletes guide has all the nitty-gritty details athletes and officials need.
Who will be competing? The official registration is in. Check it out here.
While the competition doesn’t start until the morning of 1 September, it’s always handy to know where to find Men’s and Women’s Results.
