Young Reporters Programme photo & video contest now open

YRP It's Sports

One of the many highlights during a FISU World University Games is the Young Reporters Programme, that exemplifies FISU's commitment to education along with sports competitions. At each edition of the Games, a handpicked group of talented and aspiring young sports journalists from all over the world have the rare opportunity to cover the mega multi-sport event, shoulder-to-shoulder with seasoned veterans from the industry.

The next edition of the FISU-AIPS Young Reporters Programme will be conducted at the Chengdu 2021 World University Games this August, and this time, the programme goes one step further. Not only do aspiring young journalists have the chance to put forth their candidature through the regular application process, but in fact, four photo and video journalists will be chosen directly through a contest on the official website - and the contest is now open!

The FISU Young Reporters together with their Russian peers posing in front of the Kazan Arena with the MMC, their temporary 'home' in Kazan in 2013In total, the programme will recruit 20 international candidates, of which 16 will be selected by FISU and the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) through the application process detailed here.

The remaining four will be chosen through the 'It’s Sports' photo and video contest. As the name suggests, the theme of the contest is: What does sport mean to you?

Is it the passion and struggle in the competition arena? Is it the activity that you share with friends, family, or even strangers? Does sport represent youth, passion and vitality to you or does it resonate more with joy and friendship? The best thing about this theme is that it is open to personal interpretation.

Talented photographers and videographers from around the world are welcome to participate in this contest, with their photo or video submissions. The stories told in the submissions could be original, or even a creative edit of some glorious and impressive moments in sport. This is how the contest will play out:
