2014 WUC Update: Groningen visits the Château de la Solitude to present a bid

BRUSSELS Today, October 28th, a delegation from the city of Groningen (NED) visited FISU to present their bid for the organization of the 2nd World University Long Track Speed Skating Championship to be held in 2014.

The delegation led by Hans van Rooijen from the Netherlands’ Student Sport Vereniging included five members of the bidding committee, Marieke Dekker, Ynse Seegar, Carolien ter Pelwijk, Jan-Jouke Mulder and Sybren van der Zee who came to meet with FISU World University Championship Director, Laurent Briel and sports assistants Jiho Kim and Julien Buhajezuk.

A presentation was given to the FISU staff attending the meeting to present the city, the partners and the projects related to the bid. The presentation as well as the youth and dynamism of the team were highly appreciated.

After this presentation, FISU WUC Dept. presented the bidding process, emphasized on the timeline, and discussed logistical issues such as accommodation, transportation and financial regulations for World University Championship.

Next attributions for the World University Championship will take place in May 2012.
