An important aspect of FISU’s mandate is to support education of future sport leaders. One way in which FISU does this is by promoting scholarship programmes as part of its commitment to member associations and their students. One scholarship example is for the Dream Together Master’s programme in partnership with Seoul National University (SNU). Since the development of this partnership in 2016, ten students from nine different countries have been awarded the scholarship to attend the Dream Together Master. The two selected to start in 2020, Florence Nakimuli of Uganda, and Enkhnaran Jargalsaikhan of Mongolia, have recently completed their degrees and are now reflecting on this important journey.
It was a year of incredible growth and challenge for each student. “Dream Together Master programme has been like a roll[er] coaster full of ups and downs, but still the best year of my life. The programme itself is practical, all the assignments of the 30 modules were about power point presentations which even 
Florence Nakimulimade it more unique with the best professors and experts from other universities from USA, Australia and Europe,” said Nakimuli. For Enkhnaran, it was the connections made and the international nature of the programme that stood out. “Apart from professional sports classes, I learned a lot from my classmates. In our class were students from 19 countries [and] we could become real friends and colleagues in the future. We shared experiences of 19 different countries’ cultures, manners, religions, viewpoints, ideas, and their countries’ sports situation and development,” she said.
Enkhnaran was awarded the programme’s best thesis for hers on the topic of strategic legacy development for successful Winter University Games 2033 in
Enkhnaran Jargalsaikhan Mongolia. Nakimuli’s thesis topic was governance in sport (the role of state in developing and promoting the sports policy of Uganda. While each thesis and the coursework provide the practical knowledge, each graduate is grateful and recognizes the importance of this time for their respective futures. “I believe this has been the best year of my life and the best future investment of all times because there are few things in life that are more faithfully embody the spirit of ‘dreaming together,’” Nakimuli said. Enkhnaran agreed saying, “It was the best investment for my future life. I would like to express my gratitude to FISU for giving me this opportunity. I believe by this program FISU is creating strong sports administrators in a lot of countries. Educating and training human resources is a significant investment for the countries.”
FISU will soon launch a call for applications for the Dream Together Master Scholarship. Candidates will submit their application to FISU where a pre-selection is completed with names recommended to SNU. SNU then makes the final decision with one to two candidates chosen to join the programme with all related costs covered. While Nakimuli and Enkhnaran have seen their time with the programme end, because of this unique opportunity through the FISU and SNU partnership, their goals and futures are just starting to unfold.
