The Artistic Gymnastics competition in the Halkapinar venues during the Izmir Universiade

BRUSSELS In 2014 the city of Izmir, the former host city of the 23rd Summer Universiade in 2005, will host the 2014 FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships.

The FIG Worlds will be staged in the Halkapinar Sports Hall. This venue was one of the main venues of the 2005 Summer Universiade which the city of Izmir gained with staging the Games.

The Halkapinar Sports Hall, constructed as a multi-purpose sports venue, was used for the Artistic Gymnastics competitions and the Basketball semi-finals and finals during the Universiade. The venue has a seating capacity for 10,000 people.

Being one of the ten new venues especially built for the Universiade inIzmir, the Halkapinar Sports Hall confirms the legacy of FISU and the Universiade, becoming a venue for another major international sports event.
