FISU Acting President honored with the 100th Anniversary of the Polish Olympic Committee commemorative award

resizeMr. Leonz Eder, FISU Acting President, was awarded the medal of the Polish Olympic Committee’s 100th anniversary by its president Andrzej Krasnicki. This commemorative medal is granted to the most outstanding sport mentors.

The FISU Acting President was invited by the regional government of Wroclaw as well as the city’s Mayor to take part in celebrations for the FISU Vice-President Marian Dymalski’s Olympic Order award – the highest recognition of the IOC – that he received in November 2021. The ceremony took place in a beautiful complex belonging to the Polish University Sport Association and was attended by many officials from Poland and abroad, as well as local authorities.

In his speech, Mr. Eder highlighted Mr. Dymalski’s great contribution to university sport. Mr. Eder shared some presents from the Lucerne 2021 Winter Universiade: Wuli the official mascot of the Winter Games 2021 – which was intended to symbolise Mr Dymalski’s great sense of humour –, and the gold medal created for the cancelled edition of the 30th FISU Games Winter to symbolise his successful involvement in FISU. Marian Dymalski was the Chairman of the Evaluation Commission for the winter edition of the FISU World University Games in Lucerne, and was very much attached to this project.

"Wuli, the official mascot of the Winter Universiade, is meant to symbolise your great sense of humour," expressed Mr. Eder, "and the gold medal of the Games is meant to symbolise your successful involvement in FISU. Congratulations, dear Marian, and thank you very much, my friend."

As part of the programme in Wroclaw, Mr. Eder visited a newly erected sport start-up hub, located on the premises of the Polish University Sport Association. This is the only building in Poland of such kind. It is fully equipped with the latest high-tech solutions for presentations, meetings and trainings. Young people with innovative ideas will now have a place to develop their projects in a safe environment under the guidance of experts.
