Accompanied by NUSF Italy, FISU supports university research on cancer by sponsoring the university sport events taking place soon in Torino, where the first ever Summer Universiade and two other Universiades were held.
On Sunday, March 4 2018, the city of Torino will host once again JUST THE WOMAN I AM – a sports, cultural and social welfare event in support of university research on cancer organized by CUS Torino and the Turin University System. The event, now at its fifth edition, proved to be a great success in the past years and is widely known in Piedmont and Italy. The goal for the 2018 edition is 20,000 registrations.
University sports is once again at the forefront in order to communicate its educational values, the means of prevention and protection of the health of the individual and, above all, to raise public awareness and become a vehicle for culture in support of the elimination of gender violence.
The 2017 edition saw more than 60,000 people attend the event which took place in Piazza San Carlo, and more than 16,000 runners registered in the non-competitive 6 kilometers race and walk: women and men ran to raise money in favor of university research on cancer and to support a greater self-awareness for a healthier lifestyle.
Apart from the race, a full program of sports events will involve the city center. Fitness and dance open lessons, open talks and an area dedicated to women’s organizations and university research will enliven the day; a radio DJ / set and an area dedicated to children will also be present in Piazza San Carlo.
