Dual-career project launched in Poland

FISU 25 October 2019

WARSAW – Polish student-athletes will have it easier to pursue a dual career and combine sport with study. The initiative from the Polish University Sport Federation (AZS) was supported through the national Ministry of Science and High Education by introducing a project named the National Student Team.

The project implies financing of additional individual classes with a tutor for student-athletes. Poland’s Minister of Sport Witold Banka believes that “this is another important public project to support sportsmen”.

Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Science and High Education Jaroslaw Gowin announces a dual-career project in Poland.

The project addresses student-athletes preparing for the Olympics, Olympic medallists as well as participants of World and European Cups, Universiades and World University Championships. The initiative also applies to athletes with disabilities.

“This project will be of great support,” stated pentathlonist Anna Maliszewska. The Polish University Sport Federation (AZS) believes that from now on it will be easier to attract students to sport.
