CUSI announces 60th Italian Winter National University Ski Championship

FISU 8 March 2021

The 60th Winter National University Championship for alpine skiing—also known as the Open Alpine Ski in Italy, will be held in the mountainous Civetta Comprensorio region, from 22-24 March.

The event, announced by the Centro Universitario Sportivo Italiano (CUSI) and organised by CUS Venezia, was originally planned for December 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are living a very difficult time, however, the local Organizing Committee has worked hard in order to arrive at this position with all the necessary measures suitable for ensuring that the event could be safe and respectful of the current national and international regulations,” said CUSI President, Antonio Dima.

“Our hope is that despite the pandemic situation, we will be able to carry out this event, which is part of the first events for the restart of university sport in Italy”.

The event was held in the same region in 2018, which was a much-needed boost for the Veneto region after being hit by devastating weather conditions. Today, Italy’s north-eastern corner in the heart of the Dolomites will host this event, once again making its mark as one of the first university sports events to resume after the long hiatus for sports events worldwide.
