Registration for the EUSA Games 2016 about to close

LJUBLJANA – The registration for the European Universities Games Zagreb-Rijeka 2016 is about to close on 15 March. With a very high interest, there are only a few places left in most sports, so registrations of interested teams are encouraged to be done as soon as possible. The entries will close upon fulfilment of the competition brackets, latest by the announced deadline.

European Universities Games are the largest European university sport multi-sport event, organised under the umbrella of the European Universities Sports Association (EUSA). So far, the Games have been organised twice (Córdoba 2012 and Rotterdam 2014), and the following edition of the event will be held in Zagreb and Rijeka, with the support of the Croatian Academic Sports Federation (CASF). The Games are open for student-athletes representing their Universities or other higher education institutions in Europe. Over 5,000 participants are expected to take part in the upcoming Games.

The sports programme of the EUG2016 consist of 8 compulsory sports: Badminton, Basketball, Football, Futsal, Handball, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball; 11 optional sports: Basketball 3×3, Beach Volleyball, Bridge, Chess, Golf, Judo, Karate, Rowing, Rugby 7’s, Sport Climbing, Taekwondo; 2 demonstrative sports: Swimming, Water Polo; and also includes competitions in Table Tennis and Swimming for students with disability (Para sports).

The upcoming EUSA Games in Croatia will build upon the legacy of the 14th FISU Summer Universiade which was held in Zagreb in 1987. Apart from the sport programme, the event will also include educational, cultural and a social activities, as well as a special Rectors’ Conference. Registration is possible through the European national university sports bodies.
