Preparations Gwangju Torch Relay

PARIS – During the week of 23 March, 2015, 100 days prior to the Opening Ceremony of the 28th Summer Universiade, the representatives of the Gwangju 2015 Organizing Committee held a series of meetings in Paris with representatives of FISU, the French University Sports Federation and Universities of the Sorbonne Paris I and IV.

The main reasons for these meetings were the final preparations for the ceremony of lighting the torch of the Universiade. This ceremony is traditionally held in the courtyard of the Sorbonne the last week of May.

After the flame ceremony in Paris, the torch will fly to Taipei City, Chinese Taipei which will host the Summer Universiade in 2017, to return to the Republic of Korea were the torch will relay the Universiade Flame around the country for a month. Finally, on 3 July, the flame will enter the Gwangju Stadium during the Opening Ceremony.

The meeting was attended by Mr. CHO Byoengman, Director of Torch Relay; Mr. SEO Jungyoon, Team manager; Ms. JUNG Yoshim, Manager; Ms. CHOI Illu, Manager (International Affairs Dept.); Vincent Rognon, FFSU National Technical Director/Directeur Technique National; Damien Bardot, FFSU Media and Partnership Director/Dirceteur Média et partnerias and Kolë Gjeloshaj, FISU Protocol Coordinator and Director Educational Services.
