Medical Centre of Winter Sports to be established in Krasnoyarsk

KRASNOYARSK – A significant agreements within the preparation for the 29th Winter Universiade Krasnoyarsk 2019 was signed at the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum (KEF2016), i.e. the agreement on medical and biological support of athletes from national teams of the Russian Federation.

The agreement was signed by Viktor Tomenko, Chairman of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Government, and Vladimir Uiba, Head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency.

After signing the document Viktor Tomenko pointed out: “In order to ensure a qualitative preparation for staging the 2019 Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk, we must broaden interaction between sports and medical institutions. One of the top priority tasks of the territory and the country is to provide athletes of the winter sports included in the Universiade programme with proper medical support. The new medical centre will be located in close proximity to the training and competition venues of the athletes.”

Vladimir Uiba, Head of the Russian Federal Medical and Biological Agency, added: “The multidisciplinary laboratory will become the heart of the new medical centre.”

The Siberian Clinical Centre of Russian Federal Medical and Biological Agency will be housed in the Multi-functional Sports Complex ‘Sopka’. The project of the ‘Sopka’ complex includes about 900 m² of rooms with a total capacity of 270 people per day. The venue will host a medical and preventive department, doping control checkpoint, administrative, utilities and auxiliary rooms.
